In a restored 2-storey mansion, Sorn’s menu and gardens are inspired by the tropical forests of the south which consists of mostly seafood as the whole southern region is surrounded by water.
The team interprets southern Thai, mixing recipes with modern practices and local culinary, and sourcing ingredients from local farmers and fishers.
The sophisticated 22-course menu is mostly slow-cooked, starting with small bites and progressing to shared mains.
Sorn is allegedly the most difficult restaurant to book in Thailand and there is a reason why: it offers impeccable service.

AMUSE BOUCHE
Guava jelly and crispy squid. Young mangosteen with coconut, palm sugar sauce and crispy krills
Gayu (cashew nuts – pounded with chilli and shrimp paste) Comes with cucumber with cashew nut butter.
Dry scallop fried with green onion leaves, fried with curry mixed. Sprinkled seaweed powder to enhance the flavour.

The beach – Sand mole crab / ming aralia / seaweed powder
Phuket lobsters with fish sauce watermelon and spicy green mango

Gems on crab stick – Live blue crab / mud crab roe / yellow chilli paste
Coconut milk for coconut juice. The sweetness comes from the angel leaves, dry shrimp and roe paste. Comes with coconut meat with dried scallop oil. – Southern plant / dried squid and shrimp

VERDICT:
Well executed and unique. You probably would not find anything comparable to Sorn for their Southern Fine Dining concept.
In my opinion, Sorn still can go a bit further to fully earn their 2 stars. Price to value for me is abit under. I expected another level of dishes, atmosphere and service at this price.
